Checking In With QueerDoc September 2024: So Many Updates!

We sent an email version of this out to subscribers on Friday September 27th. We strive to check in semi-regularly with QueerDoc updates, tracking legislation in the states we serve, and education about transgender medical care. If you’d like to be on our list for future updates, sign up at the bottom of this page.

Four individuals of varied heights stand with their backs to the viewer. Their arms are draped across each other's shoulders. The person on the left has very short dark curly hair, brown skin, and is wearing a light demin jacket. The second person wears a light red hijab and light brown long sleeved shirt. The third person has long mixed light brown, medium, brown, and grey straight hair. The fourth person has shoulder-length straight black hair and is wearing a warm brown shirt. Overlay white text reads Checking In With QueerDoc.

We hope to be in touch every so often with news and free educational content focused on trans healthcare. Don’t worry, you can unsubscribe at any time!

Our founder, Dr. Beal, has been seeing Alaska patients through Identity. We are now seeing youth and adult Alaska patients “in-house,” too! Identity may still be a good choice for people with insurance, as they are able to accept insurance for appointments.

The Eleventh Circuit Court stayed Judge Hinkle’s injunction on the youth and adult care restrictions in Florida. We are happy to discuss care options with you. Check out that Request Appointment button at the top of the page to book an introductory appointment. More info about getting care at QueerDoc here.

We are sad to announce that we will not be able to continue prescribing testosterone in Hawai’i. Hawai’i state regulations require an in-person visit for all testosterone prescriptions: both first prescriptions and refills. While it has been a privilege to provide care for people seeking testosterone in Hawai’i, our current volume of work there does not support the cost of travel. We always try to prioritize people over profits, and we are stuck in the same late-stage capitalism as the rest of our community. We just could not make this work financially.

We have soft-launched in Oregon, and we are ready to formally open up those books.

We are seeing youth and adults for telehealth visits in Oregon. We can currently schedule in mid-October, with expanded hours available in November.

We’re Fundraising!

Our wonderful non-profit sponsors, TransFamily Support Services, are no longer able to host our access fund donation page. We thank them for their support these past few years. ????????????

Our donation page will remain active until the end of day Monday, September 30th, 2024. We are in active discussions with a new nonprofit sponsor and hope to share those details soon.

Donations to our Access Fund directly support the costs of visits, prescriptions, labs, and medical interpreters for patients who cannot afford our sliding scale fees. Awards range from a single visit during a financial crisis to a year or more of care.

Donations are tax deductible and eligible for employer matching. Thank you! ????????????
