QueerDoc has a clinic billing agreement with Quest Diagnostics that allows patients to access lab testing at reduced prices.
Clinic billing means that the lab tests are billed through QueerDoc rather than through your insurance. This can be helpful for patients who do not have insurance, have high deductible insurance plans, or prefer predictable upfront pricing.
How Clinic Billing Works
When clinic billing is used:
- Quest provides QueerDoc discounted pricing for lab tests
- QueerDoc collects payment from the patient
- Quest invoices QueerDoc monthly for all lab tests they collect
- QueerDoc passes your payment onto Quest
- A $11 processing fee is added by QueerDoc
- Quest charges an $11 lab draw fee at the time your blood is collected
The processing fee and lab draw fee are separate from the lab test price.
Processing Fee
QueerDoc charges a $11 processing fee when clinic billing is used.
This fee helps offset administrative costs including:
- Managing the clinic billing account with Quest
- Payment processing and credit card fees
- Staff time coordinating lab orders and billing
- Administrative work required to transmit payments to Quest
Lab Draw Fee
Quest charges an $11 lab draw fee when your blood sample is collected at their laboratory location.
This fee is paid to Quest and covers the phlebotomy service (the blood draw).
When Labs Are Paid For
Most patients pay for labs after they are drawn and when the results are reviewed with their provider.
Typically the process looks like this:
- Your QueerDoc provider orders labs.
- You go to a Quest lab location to have your blood drawn.
- The results are sent to your QueerDoc provider.
- The labs are reviewed during your next visit.
- The lab charges are then billed through QueerDoc and paid through the Patient Portal at the time of the visit.
This process allows your provider to ensure that all appropriate labs were completed and reviewed before billing occurs.
