Dr. Wang attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York and received her Masters in Public Health at Columbia University in New York City. She completed her residency in Family and Social Medicine (2011) and a family planning fellowship (2013) at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She connected with Dr. Beal through their shared work in expanding gender affirming care using virtual visits and medical education.

Dr. Wang uses her perspectives as a queer person, an immigrant and child of immigrants from Taiwan, and as a woman of color to provide individualized, liberatory, culturally humble, and trauma-informed care. In addition to queer health, her professional interests include racial and reproductive justice and adolescent health. Dr. Wang and her partner are owned by two cats, Sid and Impurrrator Furryosa, and she has an extensive unpublished photo collection of selfies with Sid and Furryosa in boxes of various sizes and shapes.

Dr. Wang will start seeing QueerDoc patients in February.  If you’re in Hawaii, Montana, Utah, or West Virginia, and would like to become a QueerDoc patient, please schedule an introductory 15 minute appointment to learn all about us.

GET TO KNOW DR. WANG

What drew you to medicine and to gender affirming care?

I went into medicine to give back. Medicine also challenges me to be a lifelong learner. Gender affirming medicine should be just medicine – all of health care should be capable of providing care for anyone who needs it. I approach gender affirming medicine from that perspective. I began prescribing hormones because there was a need and because each person should be able to make their own informed decisions about their body and their health.

Favorite food(s): Noodle soups and anything else in a broth/chowder form are my comfort foods.

Hobbies: Reading, especially speculative fiction and comic books/graphic novels.
