There are a lot of unknowns about health insurance heading into 2025.
But, affirming plans are available right now, and any changes put into place by incoming administrations or legislatures at the state or federal levels may have barriers preventing them from going into effect immediately.
Where To Find Affirming Health Insurance?
In Washington, all state-regulated plans must cover gender care. This does not mean that all plans in Washington cover gender care, but all plans available on the Washington marketplace do.
- WA Healthplan Finder is the place to go to apply for AppleCare or look for an ACA (Obamacare) plan. All of these include transgender health coverage.
- Enrollment period lasts until January 15, 2025.
- Choosing between employer-offered plans? These plans may or may not include coverage. If you don’t want to ask your HR department or call your insurance company, contact the Washington Insurance Commissioner.
