Youth gender care differs from adult care in many ways. Puberty blockers are an option to put a “pause button” on puberty and are completely reversible. QueerDoc provides gender affirming care including puberty blockers and hormone therapy to adolescent patients. Medical intervention for youth doesn't start until after puberty has started, but we are happy to meet younger patients and families to answer questions and develop an individualized plan to met the needs of your young person.

QueerDoc provides evidenced-based, lifesaving transgender medicine to patients of all ages following an informed consent model of care based in the current best practices and guidelines. All patients and families interested in QueerDoc start with a free 15 minute session to learn more about our clinic. If QueerDoc is the right fit for your family and youth, the next step is an onboarding session with our team to sort out all of the paperwork! Next your family and youth meet with a medical provider. Care usually involves four medical appointments in the first three months and then appointments every three months until the adolescent reaches majority. All care is provided on a sliding scale. Learn more about how our pricing works here. The picture below includes suggested pricing, but our sliding scale is available to all. You may or may not be able to use insurance for prescriptions and labs- your provider will help you determine this. Campaign for Southern Equality (nationally) and TransSocial (in Florida) may be able to help cover the cost of care.

Family support and consent are required for youth or adolescent gender care by law. This can be very difficult to navigate and laws vary by state. Access to youth care nationwide is changing rapidly. We are committed to advocating for accessible care and will provide care for youth as long as we are able to. For youth in states where legislation is impending or in place that restricts care, care with us is likely still available. Request your free 15 minute intro session to learn more. Research shows that gender diverse young people who feel supported and accepted by their families have better mental health outcomes than youth who are unsupported. QueerDoc is well-versed in navigating this and can help you understand care options and next steps. Book a free introductory session with us to learn more about our services.
