6/27 Florida Board Of Med Is At It Again

The Florida Board of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine Board met on June 23, 2023 as a follow-up to their June 2, 2023 meeting. The boards have been instructed by law to create informed consent documents for both youth and adult care. Their next meeting is scheduled for June 30, 2023, where it is expected that these documents will be adopted. Once adopted, their use will be required in order to obtain gender affirming care in the state of Florida.

Erin Reed of Erin In The Morning obtained an image of what appears to be new requirements for adults obtaining gender affirming care in Florida.

If these are the proposed informed consent documents, they are, quite frankly, absurd, and designed to create barriers to care rather than practice true informed consent. We have not located a transcript of the meeting to confirm that the shared document is the Board of Med’s proposed path for gender affirming care.
