Starting care at QueerDoc begins with a free 15-minute introductory appointment. In that appointment, we discuss our policies and procedures so you know what working with us is like, and we can answer common questions about QueerDoc. We also like to let you get to know us a little better before booking a medical appointment.
The Welcome Video Will Take You to Patient Registration
We recently created a welcome video that plays when the “Request Appointment” button is clicked. This video goes through a decision tree to help determine if we’re a good fit for your needs. If we’re not a good fit or aren’t able to provide care for your circumstances or location, the video will take you to a blog article with resources that may help you find a better fit. If it seems like we are a good fit, the video will include a link to our patient portal at the end. We use Simple Practice (stay tuned for an upcoming blog about their new app!)
During the course of the video, we will ask:
- Are you over or under 18?
- Are you interested in medical gender care or mental health services for exploring gender?
- Where are you located?
- Insurance! We offer a sliding scale and do not take insurance for appointments. We can provide links to alternative resources if you have Medicare or need to use insurance for your visits. Note – if your insurance allows for out-of-network reimbursement, we will provide you with the documentation for those requests! Many patients can use insurance for labs and prescriptions.
Tips on using the welcome video:
- Click on the video screen to start/stop play and bring up the controls
- Closed captioning appears at the bottom if you turn it on
- Scroll down or change the screen size to full-screen if you don’t see all options
- You can always start the video over by clicking on the “Request Appointment” button, but you can’t go back within the video.
- You don’t have to wait for each section of the video to end before clicking on your choice.
If you have any technical difficulties please let us know at info@queerdoc.com.
