QueerDoc’s 2023 Year In Review

Reflecting on 2023, Hoping for 2024

The year 2023 was a difficult and wonderful one at QueerDoc. We expect 2024 won’t slack on the challenges, but we hope the joys will come, too. ???

We provide care in nine states. Four states enacted bans or restrictions on youth (and adult!) care in 2023. The fabulous teams of lawyers challenging these bans won several injunctions: care bans in Idaho and Montana were blocked from going into effect. A partial injunction is in place in Florida, and we hope to see a broader injunction announced in the near future. For now, restrictions on gender affirming care are in effect in Florida and Utah.

State legislatures will continue to try to restrict care unconstitutionally again in 2024; that’s a given. (Resource shout out: Erin Reed’s 2024 Anti-Trans Legislative Risk Map.)

And we’ll continue seeing patients. We grew in 2023, and we have plans in place to support more patients in 2024. (PSST: Clinic pop-ups to prescribe T in Hawaii!)

If you’re considering getting care, check out Getting Care At QueerDoc.

QueerDoc is committed to providing gender affirming care, fighting against medical discrimination, and advocating against discriminatory laws – especially in the states where we practice.
